At Phoenix MedSpa, we offer neuromodulators that can quickly, safely, and effectively smooth the most common expression lines, including crow’s feet, fine lines, frown lines, and wrinkles. Clients who want a non-surgical wrinkle removal or wrinkle reduction treatment plan with neurotoxins like those found in BOTOX can benefit from our quick and efficient treatments and, with regular treatments, can maintain smooth skin and keep these lines at bay long term. We offer neuromodulator treatments at our Lutz location to patients in Hollywood, Fort Lauderdale, Hallandale Beach, Aventura, and beyond.
Neuromodulators are wrinkle reduction injectables specifically formulated with active ingredients called neurotoxins that smooth dynamic wrinkles on the upper half of the face. These lines form due to years of repetitive movements and the gradual weakening of the skin’s structural layers resulting from the natural aging process. We offer treatments with BOTOX and Dysport and will soon be offering XEOMIN.
Neurotoxins are the active ingredients in neuromodulators that relax facial muscles to smooth fine lines and wrinkles. The most common neurotoxin is botulinum toxin A, which is found in products like BOTOX. It works at the muscular level to smooth line and wrinkles at the surface. Neurotoxins block communication between muscles and nerve fibers. After treatment, the muscles will enter into a state of relaxation, and you’ll no longer make exaggerated expressions. When your muscles are at rest, the result is smooth, wrinkle-free skin.
Horizontal lines across the forehead form due to repeated muscle contractions when raising the eyebrows. These movements eventually cause wrinkles to settle into the skin. Anti-aging injections relax these muscles to smooth the forehead while allowing natural expressions to remain. With regular treatments, the formation of deeper lines can be minimized, helping patients maintain a refreshed and youthful look.
Frown lines, or the vertical wrinkles between the eyebrows, develop from frequent squinting or furrowing. These lines become deeper with age and can cause a tired or tense appearance. Non-surgical wrinkle reduction treatments temporarily relax the muscles responsible for these lines, softening their visibility.
Crow’s feet are the fine lines that develop at the corners of the eyes. They are most noticeable when you are smiling or squinting. These wrinkles can become more prominent with age as skin loses elasticity. With our neuromodulators, we can soften these lines while allowing you to keep the natural twinkle in your eyes when you smile.
Clients who undergo treatments with neuromodulators can expect an efficient treatment process and visible results within a few days of their injections. We can customize each client’s treatment plan with the right amount of product to address each problem area. Other treatment benefits include the following:
Of all the neuromodulators, Botox was the first wrinkle reduction injectable available to target fine lines, crow’s feet, and dynamic wrinkles. Since its introduction into the cosmetic world over 20 years ago, it has helped millions of men and women reverse the impact of the aging process on their skin. It has been studied, tested, and proven to be a safe wrinkle removal treatment and delivers long-lasting yet temporary results.
If aging or genetics have caused the formation of light, moderate, or severe dynamic lines on the upper half of your face, we can use neuromodulators like Botox to smooth the skin by relaxing the facial muscles responsible for those expression lines.
One of the reasons that Botox is so popular is that it is FDA-cleared to treat the most common areas of the face where expression lines appear. We can design treatment plans to smooth frown lines, crow’s feet, fine lines, and other dynamic wrinkles. Patients can treat one or multiple areas during a single appointment to reduce treatment times and achieve the most comprehensive results. Botox is approved for more areas than any other neuromodulator.
While Botox is the most widely known neuromodulator, it isn’t the only option. Other neuromodulators contain the same active ingredient, Botulinum toxin type A, but are formulated in unique ways to make them more suitable for certain patients.
Dysport is another cosmetic neuromodulator used for dynamic wrinkles. This product is specifically approved for use on frown lines, but is sometimes used for other areas. Dysport has smaller protein molecules which allow for greater diffusion. Sometimes Dysport is chosen when the patient wants a more widespread and subtle result. This formulation can also produce results that appear slightly faster than Botox.
Botulinum toxin injections with Xeomin offer a more purified approach to wrinkle relaxation. This product contains only the active ingredient without additional proteins. By isolating the Botulinum toxin, Xeomin may help prevent resistance to the medication. It can be the right choice for patients who wish to maintain their results with regular treatment. Xeomin is particularly well-regarded for delivering results that still allow for natural-looking expressions.
During a neuromodulator treatment, a consultation is conducted to assess facial anatomy, discuss patient goals, and determine the appropriate dosage. The skin is cleansed and specific injection points are noted or marked to target precise muscle groups responsible for wrinkles. We may have you make certain facial expressions so we can determine the right injection locations. A fine needle is used to administer small amounts of the neuromodulator directly into these muscles, a process that typically takes 10 to 20 minutes. You may feel mild pressure or a little pinch during the injections.
The treatment process begins with a consultation. Our goal is to learn more about your problem areas, treatment goals, and primary concerns. We’ll ask you some questions about your medical history to confirm that our wrinkle reduction treatments are right for you. Once we confirm your treatment eligibility, we can proceed with the injection process.
There’s no social downtime after a treatment with neuromodulators. You can resume most normal activities and even return to work post-treatment. BOTOX and other wrinkle-relaxing injectables are considered lunchtime injectables because you can schedule your treatments during your lunch hour and resume your day as usual.
You will need to follow some aftercare instructions post-treatment to ensure the best results. You’ll need to avoid hot environments and strenuous workouts, keep your head elevated for several hours after your appointment, avoid blood-thinning supplements and medications, avoid alcohol consumption, and avoid touching the treatment site.
You’ll be provided with detailed aftercare instructions after your treatment so that you know what steps to take to protect the injection sites and your results.
After you undergo treatment with BOTOX or another one of the similar neuromodulators, you can expect results within the first few days. For some, results are evident within the first two days; for others, it can take up to a week. Regardless of when your results appear, you can expect the best results by 30 days post-treatment.
On average, neurotoxins will relax the facial muscles for three to four months. The body will slowly metabolize the product ingredients, and as it does, your muscles will regain their normal ability to contract. Once you start to see a change in the appearance of your skin and your expression lines reappear, you can schedule a follow-up treatment so we can add the necessary amount of product to the area to prevent the full reappearance of your expression lines.
The best candidates for neuromodulators are clients who want a long-lasting solution for dynamic wrinkles, fine lines, frown lines, and crow’s feet. If other anti-aging treatments haven’t made a significant difference in the appearance of your expression lines, you may be the perfect candidate for a wrinkle reduction treatment plan.
Clients should be in good health, have realistic expectations about the treatment process and the outcome, be willing to follow all the aftercare instructions, and commit to scheduling follow-up treatments to maintain long-term results. Pregnant and nursing women do not qualify for treatment, nor do those who have an allergy to any of the ingredients in the products.
Neuromodulator treatment is suitable for all skin tones, including darker skin. These treatments target the underlying muscles responsible for dynamic wrinkles and do not affect the skin’s surface or pigmentation. Neuromodulators come with less risk of hyperpigmentation or scarring in dark skin than other treatments such as laser resurfacing. Patients with darker skin can expect the same wrinkle-reducing and smoothing effects as those with lighter skin.
Botox and other neuromodulators can be an ideal treatment for men who wish to reduce signs of aging while keeping a natural-looking appearance. The treatment process is the same for men, but we may adjust dosage, frequency of treatment, and injection locations based on the strength of the facial muscles, metabolism, and other factors.
Choosing the right option for neuromodulator therapy depends on factors like the areas being treated, your desired results, and how your body responds to treatment. We love all three options for the versatile benefits they offer to patients with different concerns and goals. A consultation helps us identify which product aligns best with your goals and treatment history.
The best way to determine whether neuromodulators are right for you is by scheduling a consultation at our office so that we can meet with you and learn more about your problem areas and medical history. That way, we can determine whether you would benefit from a customized wrinkle removal treatment plan.
